How does the meter work ?

Parisian taximeter combines fractionnal measures of time and distance :

1-the time measures are computed when :
- the car is stopped,
- the car is moving, applying the rates
A under 30.77 Km/h,
B under 29.63 Km/h,
C under 22.79 Km/h.

2- The distance measures are computed when:
The car is moving, applying the rates
A over 30.77 Km/h,
B over 29.63 Km/h,
C over 22.79 Km/h.


 

ACTIVITY ZONE  

Parisian taxis can charge you to every destination in France, out of this zone.They can't do it in a reversal way , excepting when they have been booked or called.

They are allowed to refuse to charge you , if your destination is out of this zone, excepting from CDG Airport : All destinations are to be accepted and covered.

 

 

 
Around 18000 taxis in Paris, covering Paris and 3 suburban departments.You can hail one in the street, find it on taxi rank, or call a radio-cab. All taxis apply the same rate.

How to know whether a taxi is available or not ?
Available : The taxi sign on the top of the car is lit up.
Not available : The taxi sign is not lit up, and one of the 3 small coloured lights underneath is lit up. These are the rates indicators.Taxi users shouldn't care about them, but the police surely do. Rate applied on the meter is shown up, on the top of the car.
